Few things.
One, that is old news, over a year old. That particular article was from May 16, 2016. So Google Chrome already "phased out" flash. However the option is still there to allow flash to run.
Two, Flash will one day be die out because Adobe (the makers of flash) agrees that flash is a security risk. They already stopped selling "Adobe Flash Pro" and designed a new builder called "Adobe Animate" that builds with HTML5 rather than Flash. So Adobe will no longer support Flash if they haven't already.
Three, we are already looking into an HTML5 solution. It's just the matter of sorting things out.
