| --Update 4----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Site is now secured with SSL, Now when you launch poker it'll say "Its not fully secured" the reason for this is its still pulling images from pokerfatcat.net an "unsecured site" and that i believe triggers that warning. I'll be working on fixing that in the upcoming days. Poker is fully secure now. --Update 3----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry for the lack of games on Sunday the 25th. After I got all the files to the new server and even made tables. I forgot to start the poker program. Been a long weekend. Registration should start 1 am est if any one plays that late. --Update 2----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Past few days Mufasa and I were looking around for potential server hosting. Recently we found a server that we believe that will suit the needs of the server while at the same time its about 23% cheaper. From $282 down to $218. At the same time its technically an upgrade from the current server due to newer hardware. We going form a duel core to a quad core with faster gigahertz. I Wont bore you with the technical stuff but its something better for cheaper. So the next day or two, there may be a little bit of down time. I'll try my best to do it when there are not many people on the site. If it goes smoothly the transition will be fairly quick. Also, once the new server is functional and we have the sites working as intended, we will proceed with improvements and upgrades to the site. I have yet to decide if I'll use the old site temporarily or not, while I work on the new one. It'll be less down time unless I need to restart the server for some odd reason. But, we want to let you guys know so there are no surprises. Happy playing, -Joe --Update 1----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is is an update and would like thoughts on moving forward with FatCat. So recently DB finally got in touch with us and helped us out a little bit and he'll transfer the old domains. The logins to the old site are now working. But as far as anything else I'm not sure. I know poker was removed off the old site so that for sure will not work at this time. I can look into getting that site back up and running under the Team FatCat name. In my opinion, I firmly believe the old site is outdated in many ways and should be built from the ground up. Such as encrypting passwords so that no one can see or even decrypt the hashed password even if some one some how access the site. Also the password in the URL needs to go away when playing poker for many reasons. That was one of the things I did with the new site if anyone noticed. An issue that the users don't notice is how the files in the server are organized. Its a mess in my opinion there are over 1.5gb of useless files that accumulated over a decade (trust me there are files from 2007), why I don't know. So this is where I stand. I was thinking that we can use the old site TEMPORALLY until we have a site that is mostly functional and that is ready for production. We plan on updating poker and the forums. Unfortunately vBulletin 3 will not work on later versions of PHP (past 5.4 the up to date is currently 7.1). I would like to replace that with Xenforo, my personal favorite and much cheaper than vBulletin 5. Also with a brand new site, I think it would be fitting for everyone register new accounts (there are almost 50,000 accounts and I'm guessing only like 200 tops was used in the past 8 months) and new teams when that is developed and implemented to the new site. Teams may take a while if I have to do it on my own. With a new (secured) site I believe we can get some of the old members back that left (due to the site being unsecured) and bring in more users with your help. If we move forward with brand new site. The old site will be temporally on teamfatcat.com and I'll develop the new site on a sub-domain under dev.teamfatcat.com. Also I would like to thank the people that keeps the site alive, and because of that I have something unique planned moving forward with a new site. It might not be much but definitely something unique. So you the members, give me your thoughts, opinions, and suggestions on moving forward with FatCat. -Joe

| I think that your suggestion for a brand new site and re-registering active accounts are all with very good intentions and your knowledge is irreproachable. I will support whatever you deem necessary going forward to provide a team poker site for we old FatCatters that will be able to use current technology, and I hope that the true supporters of FatCat will continue to do so that the funds are there for you and Wes to make this happen. Although I am fairly illiterate when it comes to computer programming & writing code, I am willing to help in any way I can to assist you in the transition. | |

| Joe: You have made great steps forward in getting this site once again working. For that I applaud you. The suggestions that you are making seem to be the best way to go to make this site the place to play in the future.
Eliminating all of the baggage from years ago is a waste of your time and effort. If we are going to starting a "new and better" site, start fresh.
Like Greybeard wrote, I too am willing to help. MissMousse

| I bring it up now because up until recently, I was only pitching my ideas to Mufasa. As a whole we are on the same page. From my understanding the members want a new site, on the other hand some people don't want to give things up. Mufasa suggested for me to make a post because he wants the members to be happy. What he wants, I want also. So I'm taking a step back to inform you where I'm at and what you guys want me to do moving forward with the site. Rather than just going forward with what I think with changes that may come at a surprise. Regardless the team aspect is something we plan on keeping for sure, It just may take some time to create with the new site. | |

| New site with new vision for harmony amongst members...
Put up the top 20 team names from FC with their existing chiefs and have all members apply for membership to the team of their choice. Limit team membership to maximum of 20 members. This will accommodate 400 players. No new teams can be formed until the original 20 teams have reached their maximum of 20 members. Any new teams after that have 90 days to reach a 10 person membership or be disbanded, forcing them to join an existing team. Just a thought for discussion...

| .Great Idea Greybeard, Unfortunately newbies wanna ride top teams coat tails,BUT Team Radly is quite Happy with the few we have and were trying to max out at 10 players(Keeps the drama and BS at a minimum) and Team Radly is about just having FUN,our ONLY RULE...I wish more people would play just"FOR FUN But the 20 member per team max is a good idea but(yeah,ano0ther BUT),you know the "Who-Haa" that would raise for some as for cleaning up old unused stuff on the new site such as Teams that haven't Played in ages and old members who haven't logged on since dirt was invents......I'm all for that,,Clean site-Fresh start(even the restrooms smell Fresh... like heaven) HEY! any one wanna come over my place tonight for a game of Parcheesi .... | |

| @Greybeard what about the team that have several team members who passed away and still on the team list ?
Wont effect my team we will never reach the limit,But i can see the limit wouldnt be fair for teams who have several team members passed away vs team with 20 full active members

| Not even gonna waste my time debating.. seems this subject is brought up by the same people over and over again...like a broken record
My views are well known and have not changed, but i think 1st we have to worry we get enough players back to even have one 20 member team before we start overthinking things like team size for multiple teams

| always the naysayer... talk about a broken record. Yes, unfortunately we ALL know your views, as they always come to light when someone suggests something new. I wouldn't be surprised if you were still using a rotary dial telephone, black & white television, and a Commodore 64 computer. | |

| grey what you suggest is not new hardly new... you are just the latest to climb on an old horse and spout its vitrues its not your idea it has been around since before you joined the site,,I have yet to see an new original thought from you???
Also the fact you are once again making it personal by attacking me on a personal level; insinuating I am a neanderthal that is living in the dark ages is again just showing your lack of class in taking a non attacking non personal post of my personal opinions and turning it into a personal attack on me by attempting to demean me.... trust me if push comes to shove i can and will take it to another level. My post did not attack you.. insult you, or anyone else... but yet once again you choose to attack me?? Lets be honest you posted that knowing i would would respond , just waiting to attack me ..... but there was no need to attack me as i never attacked anyone.. I just stated my thoughts and said lets get the players back before worrying about team size.
You really are sad, i truly pity you that you troll posts looking to attack me, that you keep posting this same suggestion over and over again just to get me to respond.....
I hope one day you find peace and dont need to resort to this type of bait and attack
My thoughts always go back to the same thought, people chose a team to be on , they want to be on that team , why should myself or any other chief tell them they have to leave because some narrow minded people decided to make changes without caring about their thoughts wishes or choice.. That is why I am against cutting team size , and not just for rush but for any team.. no one should be forced to leave a team they want to be on and chose to be on , and no chief should have to make the decision of who stays and who goes... If a chief has to remove a player it should be because they are not fitting in , or causing trouble or just beatching like a whiny......... but then you already know that dont you grey?? I assume that is why you choose to attack me whenever you can because i grew tired of you and removed you from Rush... and trust me you are on a very short list that has been removed from rush,
i state again we should be worrying more about getting 20 members back playing than worrying about 20 members per team... that is what is important right now

| Ignoring all of your ignorant BS... there is one point that I must correct your "neanderthal" brain on...
yes, you removed me from RR, but only because I requested you to do so, as it was not possible to remove myself. It had to be done by a chief, or by admin. And the reason I left at the end of the round was to join Bazinga.

| my opinion
i would hope that if we start all over from square one, that the current chiefs would have the opition to be a chief on the new site. also, that each member would have that same opition to stay on that team.
just speaking for the bazinga team, we have a total of 23 member. two of these have passed on, leaving 21 others. there are four members that have not played in over a year or more. if they do not come forward and ask to stay on the team, i would removed.
it would be my hope that each of the current members are just so damn happy to be on bazinga that they would all be back.
end of story. | |
