slight problem already, two pounds of ground beef, add 8 quarts of peeled and diced tomatoes, add to
that basil pesto (green sauce added to a red sauce???) one medium chopped onion.

that is a whole lot of tomatoes, i don't have a big enough pot for all the ingredients.....

half pound sweet Italian sausage

(btw...1 peck of whole roma tomatoes reduces down by half after peeling, seeding & squeezing out the extra water, so you only need a 6 qt pot for the whole mess)

Deleted my post basil pesto is used as a spice in my country,,maybe i have misspelled

You dont need much of it maybe a spoon or two and sauce would stay red

pesto works great w/ making salad dressing ,diablo..I use it in my homemade pizza crust recipe.......yummy..........oh btw Diane,,throw in a couple dozen meatballs or some Italian sausage,AND DON'T FORGET  THE BA-SKEDDY....HEE HEE
I also make my own pizza sauce

Catt's Pizza Sauce from Heaven or other points unknown

!-28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1/2 tsp. White Pepper \
2 tbsp. Tomato paste
1 to 1- 1/2 tsp  Sea Salt (to taste)
1/2 cup Red Wine
2 small garlic cloves,crushed slightly
1 Sprig fresh Basil
1/2 tsp Fennel seed

Put all ingredients into a 3 qt.sauce pan and bring to a boil,reduce heat to really low and simmer for 1-1/2 hrs,stirring every 10-15 minutes.
Remove from heat,remove basil sprig and crushed garlic.
You can store in frig for several days or "can" in 2 - 1 pint jars(or a quart one)..There will still be enough sauce left over to make 1 large or  2-12" pizzas once you have put up the majority of sauce.........ENJOY!

Fresh Basil great with any tomatoes and i would also add some smoked danish bacon cut into small pieces just to add some smoked bacon taste

I wrote earlier basil pesto should had been basil paste its paste with oil and fresh basil on a tube if that make any sense ? lol
